Shall the City Council of the City of Clawson, Oakland County, Michigan, be granted the authority and approval from the City of Clawson voters to sell or dispose of real property described as follows: 121 Renshaw Ave, Clawson, MI 48017, more particularly described as: Tax Parcel I.D. #’s: 25-03-103-004, 25-03-103-005, 25-03-103-006, 25-03-103-013, 25-03-103-014, and 25-03-107-035; and that the proceeds from such sale or disposition of the real property described above be approved for use on the sustainment and improvement of senior services in the City of Clawson? Explanatory Statement The Renshaw Senior Apartments, located at 121 Renshaw Avenue, is a 15-unit residential building owned and operated by the City of Clawson. Under the City Charter, City-owned property valued above the charter threshold cannot be sold without the approval of a majority of electors voting on the question at a City election. This proposal asks voters whether the City Council may sell or otherwise dispose of the Renshaw property. If approved, the proceeds of any sale would be directed toward the sustainment and improvement of senior services in the City of Clawson. Approval would authorize, but would not by itself complete, a sale; the City Council would still determine the terms, process, and timeline of any disposition, including arrangements affecting current residents. A "YES" vote grants the City Council the authority to sell or dispose of the Renshaw property, with proceeds dedicated to senior services. A "NO" vote denies that authority, and the City would retain ownership and continue to operate the property.
